He's still at primary school and loves to climb trees and ride his bike. But due to a rare genetic condition, 11-year-old Harry Crowther is already turning into an old man.
His skin is thinning, his hair grows slowly and he suffers from the physical problems of a pensioner.
Because Harry's body is ageing five times faster than other children, he is in constant pain from arthritis and he becomes tired easily.

I recall a movie where the main character, an ET, was played by a young fellow with Progeria. It is a very sad condition, because life expectancy is shortened radically. This young man will be lucky to make it to age 20. My heart goes out to him and his family.

No kidding. :( I can't imagine going through that or his family. Life can be cruel that's for sure. If conditions like this exists... perhaps someday.. genetic modifications can be made to extend life by 5 times.. instead of aging 5 times faster. :( I wish this kid the very best in the time he has. :(
I Googled that movie I mentioned, and it is "The Aurora Encounter," and the Alien is played by Mickey Hays. An odd fact that I didn't know is that he died on his 20th birthday. In many ways he was the "poster child" for his condition, making a lot of people aware of it who otherwise never would have heard of it. My heart just aches for these folks who have been dealt such a lousy hand, but who are invariably sweet people.
